Said concessionaire announced that the increases are necessary in order to advance the modernization process of the Bogotá-Villavicencio highway.
The increases will be as follows and will apply as of January 16, 2021. The increases for the section between Bogotá and Villavicencio are the first to be announced at the national level, the concessionaire says, quoted by Caracol Radio:
The current price at the Boquerón I and II toll for private cars and trucks (category 1, the one that pays the least) is 13,200 pesos and will increase 1,300 pesos, for a total of 14,500 pesos.
The second toll in the Bogotá-Villavicencio direction, that of Naranjal, is at 11,200 pesos and will go up 1,100 pesos next year, to reach 12,300 pesos.
Finally, the third and most expensive during the journey of more than 130 kilometers is that of Pipiral, which costs 18,500 pesos and will have an increase of 1,800 pesos, to be 20,300 pesos (the most expensive in the country), which means that a private vehicle or a van, which are the ones that pay the least, must pay a total of 47,100 pesos each way (94,200 pesos round trip).
85.6 kilometers long (origin – destination) and with a development length of 141 km, the Bogotá – Villavicencio highway mobilizes on average between 8,000 and 10,000 vehicles per day, and connects more than 8 million inhabitants, indicates the Coviandina concessionaire.
The concessionaire attributes the high price of tolls to the “geological challenges” of their construction, while highlighting the tunnels, surface roads, sidewalks, and bridges and viaducts, “converted (…) into tourist attractions that are integrated to the majestic landscapes ”.
How much will the increase in tolls for the trucks be?
Tractors with more than 6 axles (18 wheels) will have increases of 7,700, 6,500 and 9,400 for the tolls of Boquerón I and II, Naranjal and Pipiral, respectively.
