On the Day of the Holy Innocents, El Espectador, by the hand of Xtian, caricatures the phrases and comments of the political leaders and officials that marked 2020.

Like every December 28, in the section on The viewer, we publish the compilation of the phrases that our politicians and officials said during the year accompanied by the Xtian cartoons. Words that at the time were difficult to believe, but that in the end we had to take for granted and not pass up as simple innocent.

In a year marked by the new coronavirus pandemic, several had to do with that fact, such as that of Vice President Marta Lucía Ramírez suggesting to citizens, their hands tied by quarantines, that they could not be attentive to what the Government did. for them or that of the mayor of Medellín, Daniel Quintero, sending people to “make a homeland and go out to buy massively” on the day without VAT that was promoted by the National Government in the midst of a pandemic.

However, most of the phrases refer to key moments in the country, such as massacres, police violence, Venezuelan migration or violence against human rights defenders. In those episodes of fever, without a doubt, there were unequal wastes of sincerity that were recorded in the media. Phrases that, beyond their peculiarities, are glimpses of how the protagonists understand the State and what power is for.
