In incentive care, a 21-year-old nurse was shot by a police officer

Michelle Ramos Torres, a 21-year-old nurse, remains in the intensive care unit (ICU) of La Victoria hospital, in the town of San Cristóbal, in Bogotá. The reason: a police officer, in events that have yet to be clarified, shot him on Sunday, December 6.

According to what her mother told El Tiempo, Michelle was returning home by taxi, after having gone out to meet some friends the night before, when an attempted robbery was presented to the driver, in the south of the city.

The girl’s friends, who were transported with her in the taxi, got out of the vehicle when they realized what had happened, while she remained seated, according to her mother. At that moment, fortunately or unfortunately, police officers passed through the area and realized what had happened.

During the crackdown on the attempted theft, one of the policemen fired. The bullet hit the young woman’s shoulder and apparently affected her lung, according to the story of his mother.

The Police have a different version. The institution assures, as explained by El Tiempo, that the uniformed men went to the area where the taxi was traveling because, in a call, they were informed of a fight inside the vehicle, during which one of its occupants took out a White weapon.

After the arrival of the patrol cars, one of the people who was traveling in the car drew a firearm, according to the version of the Police, which is why one of the patrols, in self-defense, fired.

As a result of what happened, the taxi driver and a friend of Michelle Ramos were captured and transferred to the Immediate Reaction Unit (URI) in the Molinos neighborhood. In the proceedings, a blank gun was found.

The mother of the young woman narrated that, at the La Victoria hospital, the policeman came who opened fire to threaten those who realized what had happened, in order that they give another version of the events. According to the woman, the uniformed man wanted to relate the captured young man as a sentimental partner of his daughter, even though she is a lesbian.

While the victim waits for a surgery, members of the Technical Investigation Corps (CTI) of the Prosecutor’s Office will take over the investigation.
