In combat with the Army, 10 members of the FARC dissidents die – Conflict and Drug Trafficking – Justice

National Army sources confirmed to EL TIEMPO that this Tuesday, at noon, a combined operation was carried out with the Colombian Air Force against dissidents under the command of ‘Gentil Duarte‘, in the rural area of ​​Calamar, in Guaviare.

Preliminarily it is noted that the site had been bombed and then the troops entered a camp located near the Ajajú River, in the Buenos Aires district. As a result of the operation 10 dissidents died and three were captured.

Those captured were wounded and were cared for by combat nurses. Similarly, it is confirmed that they were evacuated by helicopter to a medical center.

Preliminary information indicates that a source had pointed out the possibility that the top leader of the dissidents in the east of the country, ‘Gentil Duarte’, was in the area.

This group of dissidents, the military authorities and the Public Prosecutor’s Office, point out the recruitment of minors, as well as planning and executing terrorist actions, drug trafficking, illegal mining and constraint on the civilian population in Caquetá, Guaviare and Meta.

Similarly, they are told of the kidnapping and subsequent murder of Army Second Lieutenant Carlos Arturo Becerra in the municipality of Puerto Concordia, Meta.

According to military sources, this illegal network is the one that has been forcing peasants to oppose forced eradication, therefore, it has made them confront the Public Force.

To the point, the personnel of the Technical Investigation Corps, of the Prosecutor’s Office, were inserted to carry out the urgent acts and the subsequent transfer to forensic medicine of the deceased, in order to determine the identities, sex and ages.
