The authorities found the body of Betty Vallejo Reyes, a 58-year-old woman who disappeared in strange circumstances from her home on September 7 in the Los Quindos neighborhood, in southern Armenia.

After an operation in Pereira and Palestina, Caldas, the police captured two women who are apparently suspected of Vallejo’s disappearance, the CTI of the Prosecutor’s Office had indications of the place where the woman’s lifeless body would be. It is a wooded area between the Los Naranjos and La Arcadia neighborhoods, in the south of the Quindian capital.

The lawyer for Vallejo’s daughters, Eduardo Arias Castaño, confirmed the discovery of the body at the site. “Yesterday the arrests of the people who are initially linked as allegedly responsible for the disappearance were made. An investigation has been carried out and the place where the body was exhumed was found, and we give the unfortunate news that it is the body of Dona Betty and the hope we had of finding her alive vanishes. The people who participated in this are going to pay for it, ” said the lawyer.

According to one of her daughters, Claudia Cubides, the woman’s disappearance occurred in strange circumstances because “no one saw her leave the house. My mom lived in
a two-family house but each with an independent entrance. She had had tenants on the first floor for a month, and those women told us that my mother gave them her belongings and that she said she was leaving because she had a very serious problem and that it would take a long time to return. ”

Although initially the Vallejo family considered the version of the tenants and began the search among family and friends, later they learned details that made the case rare and began an investigation on their own “ very delicate things came to light among them that from the first day These women had my mother’s clothes and appliances and a lock that was on the side of my mother’s house ended up on the side of their house even though that door had not been opened for 12 years. ”

“In this case we are several lawyers and with our resources we pay investigators to get to this point. We had a crime of enforced disappearance, but now that the body was found, it becomes a crime of homicide, the legalization of arrests and probative material continues, ” the lawyer explained.
