During the indictment hearing, Wilkerson Hernández, accused of participating in the murder of the patrolman Edwin Caro, assured that he only ran away because he was scared.

Videos of the security cameras in the area captured the moments after the murder, where Hernández is seen fleeing the scene of the crime and throwing the weapon he was carrying in a garden. Despite his attempts to escape, he was captured.

However, this Thursday, in the middle of the indictment hearing, Wilkerson Hernández assured that he had not committed the murder. “I did not kill any policeman, I only ran as seen in the videos,” he said at the hearing, in which he assured that he was on the motorcycle because his companion was going to take him home.

In addition, the detainee said that he was surprised by what happened and that was why he went for a run. Hernández was charged with the charges of aggravated homicide, attempted aggravated homicide and illegal possession of weapons, however, he did not accept them.

The defendant has not yet been imposed a security measure due to the fact that the hearing was suspended. However, tomorrow, in the afternoon, it will be decided whether Hernández goes to prison or not.
