The Colombian cyclist Egan Bernal, current champion of the Tour de France, was shown “happy to be back in the race” this Sunday in Nice at the end of the second stage of the gala round, which won the local Julian Alaphilippe, the new yellow jersey of the event.

“I’m happy to be back in the race. Today I really enjoyed it. It was a true stage of the Tour,” said the 23-year-old rider. “We controlled all day with the teammates. ‘Kwiato’ (Michal Kwiatkowski) and Richard (Carapaz) did an excellent job.”added the Ineos leader.
The one from Zipaquirá, who arrived with the peloton, appreciated not having to expend extra energy, knowing how much competition remains: “It’s the Tour, we have to go day by day and try to save energy for the last part.”
His compatriot Nairo Quintana (Arkéa-Samsic) was also happy, who overcame the second stage of this ‘Grande Boucle’.
“This second stage went well for me. A small group disputed the victory and I was part of it”, he pointed. “It was a good day.
