Then confirm the connection with Jews from the Iberian Peninsula, the applicant must request a certificate from the Jewish community of Porto or Lisbon, capital of Portugal, and then submit to the Portuguese Ministry of Justice the application to obtain nationality.

The newspaper points out that there are several benefits that Colombians can have if they also become Portuguese, among them are:

  • Work, live or move freely in Portugal or any country of the European Union.
  • The Portuguese do not need a visa to enter 83 countries, including the United States.
  • You have European rights such as political participation or access to pension and social security.

However, it must be said that this procedure can be expensive for some people, since the Ministry of Justice of Portugal charges 250 euros (just over a million pesos), to which is added the additional costs of the procedure, said the media.
