A device of more than 5,000 men and women of the Police will ensure that the curfew imposed in the Aburrá Valley and other Antioquia municipalities is fulfilled during this Mother’s Day weekend, in addition to other determinations imposed to limit the presence of the people on the streets.

The Police’s recommendations reiterate the call to abide by isolation and not to consume alcoholic beverages. For its part, the Mayor’s Office of Medellín has addressed merchants authorized by the opening of the Government with an invitation to continue working during the day, before the start of the curfew.

“They can do their work during the day today, Saturday, and tomorrow, Sunday,” said the Secretary of the Government of Medellin, Esteban Restrepo. Two measures were taken in the last hours by the municipalities of the Medellín Metropolitan Area.

Implement dry law from 5:00 p. m. from Saturday, May 9 until 5:00 a.m. m. Monday, May 11; and curfew in two days: from 7:00 p. m. from Saturday, May 9 until 5:00 a.m. m. Sunday May 10 and from 7:00 p.m. m. the same day until 3:00 a.m. m. Monday 11.

Those who fail to comply with the measures will be exposed to a fine of $ 936,000 pesos and even criminal penalties. The measures, authorities have said, were established to control the flow of people on the street, which they feared could increase during Mothers’ Day celebrations.

Similar measures have been taken in other regions of the country such as Valle del Cauca and Barranquilla. Last Friday, Colombia crossed the line of 10,000 infections with coronavirus; Antioquia continues with a low contagion figure, according to the national average, with 464 confirmed.
