In the face of the end of the year festivities that are lived in such a special way in Colombia, several local leaders decided to decree restrictions on mobility thinking of slowing the spread of the coronavirus among its citizens.
Bogotá opted for the return of the peak and ID from December 21 to January 15. For their part, cities such as Medellín and Cali combined this measure with curfews during the last two weeks of the year.
However, preventive measures to ensure that families do not commit acts that facilitate the spread of COVID-19 are not limited to those major cities since others like Barranquilla, Cartagena, Bucaramanga and the department of Risaralda also took them.
Police officers throughout the country must ensure compliance with the restrictions decreed by local leaders. That is why, in case they see any citizen breaching them, they will be fully authorized to impose the corresponding fines.
Most of the cities that opted for curfews for this end of the year decided implement it from midnight to 6:00 am in the days leading up to Christmas and New Years. However, for those two important dates, in most cases, mobility restrictions will start from 8:00 pm
But that’s not all since, in regions like Antioquia, The curfew would extend throughout December 25 and through January 1, 2021.
This was explained by the mayor of Medellín in the last hours:
2. Peak and ID: Starts on Tuesday, December 22. The even days come out the even cards, the odd days, the odd cards.
3. The lights of Medellín are suspended until the first week of January.– Daniel Quintero Calle (@QuinteroCalle) December 21, 2020
Article 35 of the Police Code stipulates the amount to be paid as a fine by people who do not respect the curfew at these end-of-year parties, which is the same for those who throughout the pandemic have been caught holding parties clandestine or that have not respected the provisions of capacity allowed in public places and others. The penalty for people who are caught driving down the street in the middle of a curfew is about 936,000 pesos.
People who violate this preventive measure that was taken in some cities in Colombia will also have to pay a considerable fine. In this case, the financial penalty for those citizens who Failure to respect the restriction can range from 523,000 pesos to 936,000 pesos.
