The reason why the first criminal judge of Bucaramanga granted Trujillo house arrest has caused annoyance in the city authorities, especially considering that it attempted against the lives of minors.
The man was captured last September on charges of illegally manipulate meat from donkeys and horses, sick or dead, to sell it to the operators of the School Food Plan (PAE) in Santander for more than a year.
Trujillo was accused of the crimes of food corruption in a homogeneous and simultaneous contest on 18 occasions, procedural fraud and falsification of a private document, and since mid-September a judge sent him to jail.
However, El Tiempo assured that the man “never got to jail because they weren’t getting deprived of liberty and on the contrary, he had to spend the last two and a half months in the Bucaramanga North Police Station ”.
But now, in a new hearing, a judge granted him the benefit, as his lawyer César Moreno explained to RCN Radio:
“They did not revoke the security measure, what the judge did was to substitute the measure for domiciliary, meanwhile the process continues because it is not that he has been totally disconnected, but the place where he is deprived of liberty is changed” .
Moreno said that he was able to demonstrate that Trujillo has the status of head of the family and that is grounds for requesting the change of the detention site. The defense lawyer detailed in the newspaper that he is responsible for his mother, who suffers from a disability, and one of his sisters.
The decision did not please the Bucaramanga authorities. In addition to the parents who were outraged, the mayor of the city, Juan Carlos Cárdenas, spoke on Twitter and said that as a victim of the process he did not agree with the decision:
Despite opposing in the company of the @PGN_COL, Fernando Trujillo was granted the house by jail, investigated for having supplied horse meat to our children in the PAE. We are victims in this process and we will not rest until all those responsible fall.

The man is already enjoying the benefit at his home, at least until next year when the prosecution files the indictment. Although Moreno told the media that contemplates negotiating a preliminary agreement with the Prosecutor’s Office to obtain more benefits.
