After the imputation of charges by the General Comptroller’s Office to 19 people for an alleged detriment of $ 4.1 billion due to irregularities in the contracting and execution of the Hidroituango project, some of those involved spoke about it.

The former managers of EPM, Juan Esteban Calle and Federico Restrepo, as well as the former governor of Antioquia, Luis Alfredo Ramos, and the former mayor of Medellín, Alonso Salazar, gave their views on the fiscal responsibility process.

Juan Esteban Calle, who served as EPM’s manager between 2012 and 2015, stated the following: “I feel totally calm regarding all the actions during my tenure as EPM manager, which I will continue to defend with absolute peace of mind, diligence and conviction, for its total adherence to personal integrity, business ethics and the Law. I will continue to meet the requirements of the authorities, with full confidence in the institutions and in justice. “

On the other hand, Federico Restrepo, who directed EPM from 2008 until the end of 2011, expressed that he is analyzing the indictment and later refer to the issue in more detail.

“I will be attentive to collaborate and cooperate with the Office of the Comptroller General of the Republic. It is important to note that this indictment of charges is not a sentence, a final decision or a plea, it is only a preliminary decision in the progress of an investigation on the administrative decisions that I made as manager of EPM and that I am sure, were transparent, in good faith, adhering to the law and oriented to generate the best results for the company and for the country, “said Restrepo , who was recently elected as rector of the University of Medellín.

And he clarified that he is the “most interested” in carrying out an exhaustive investigation, to give clarity to public opinion and trusts that once the corresponding procedures are completed it will be shown that he is not assisted by any administrative or fiscal responsibility.

On the other hand, Alonso Salazar, mayor of Medellín between 2008 and 2011 and who therefore presided over the Board of Directors of EPM at that time, expressed that he still does not know the resolution, so he will wait to know it to speak about it.

For his part, Luis Alfredo Ramos, who was governor of Antioquia between 2008 and 2011, expressed on his twitter account that he has always been willing to respond to the control bodies about their actions related to Hidroituango.

“Specifying that I was never a member of the Board of Directors of that Society nor did I participate in the planning and execution decisions of the work,” says the document.

Another former president involved is Aníbal Gaviria, who is currently the governor of Antioquia, but who between 2012 and 2015 was mayor of Medellín.

“During my tenure as mayor of Medellín I was attentive to being informed of the progress of the project and I did the corresponding support based on the trust that work teams made up of qualified professionals in all disciplines always generated in me,” Gaviria said in a release.

Meanwhile, Sergio Fajardo, governor of Antioquia between 2012 and 2015, sent a statement in which he assures that he has always responded for the actions in Hidroituango, something he will continue to do.

“The Comptroller’s Office is doing what it has to do, investigate. And I will continue doing what I have always done, answer for each and every one of my actions. I gave a free version a few months ago and today I give an explanation, that I will expand to the Comptroller’s Office and to all those interested. Why do you link me? Prior to these pronouncements, the former Antioquia governor, Sergio Fajardo, said in a statement that he will answer for all his actions.
