After the transfer order of the former head of the Anticorruption Unit of the Attorney General Luis Gustavo Moreno Rivera to La Modelo prison was known, relatives sent this newspaper an audio in which they say they fear he will be murdered.
“We are concerned and we want to warn the country that today, we unexpectedly learned of his transfer to the Picaleña prison in Ibagué. It is a detention center where you can be easily killed”Said Gustavo Moreno’s mother.

Although the sentence execution judge ordered the shipment to La Modelo, in Bogotá; Gustavo Moreno’s family maintains that “They will not receive him in La Modelo prison due to covid-19 restrictions and he would be sent to the Picaleña detention center, in Ibagué.”.
“Gustavo returned to the country to cooperate of his own free will and from the first moment he recognized his mistake and cooperated responsibly with the Colombian justice system, touching the highest spheres of power,” he adds.
Moreno’s defense assures that, for security reasons, he cannot go to a common prison.

At the beginning of December, the former prosecutor, involved in the ‘Toga Cartel’, arrived in Colombia, deported from the United States, where he was paying a penalty for money laundering for receiving in that country an advance of a bribe from former Governor Alejandro Lyons.

His defense assures that he is willing to continue collaborating in the proceedings against former magistrates Leonidas Bustos and Francisco Ricaurte. But that, as an anti-corruption prosecutor, he participated in several decisions that sent several people to jail, which is why he asks to go to a special detention center.

A judge of guarantees sent him to the Center for Higher Studies of the Police (Cespo), but the outgoing director of that institution refused to receive him, assuring that this is not a prison.
Moreno’s lawyers filed a guardianship against that decision, but the court in the case went on vacation.
