After spending several weeks in the prosecutor’s bunker, this Thursday Former anti-corruption prosecutor Luis Gustavo Moreno was transferred to La Modelo prison in Bogotá, where he must serve his sentence for the corruption network of the ‘toga cartel’.

As reported by the Inpec, Moreno will be held in a totally isolated cell in the
pavilion number 03 of the prison.
The institute also reported that in the procedure for entering the prison, the former prosecutor underwent a medical check-up to verify his health. In addition, it underwent the biosecurity protocol to mitigate the contagion of covid-19.

Moreno was also given a security certificate to inform him of the procedures in order to guarantee his safety and personal integrity.
The former prosecutor arrived in the country in early December, deported from the United States after serving a sentence there for money laundering for receiving in that country an advance of a bribe from ex-governor Alejandro Lyons.
Although Moreno had asked to be held in the Police Higher Education Center (Cespo) of the Police, arguing that his life was in danger in an ordinary prison, the Police did not receive him there.

Therefore, the third judge for the execution of sentences in Bogotá ordered that the former official be sent to La Modelo to continue serving the sentence he has in Colombia for corruption.
Moreno was sentenced by the Supreme Court to 4 years and 10 months in prison, for having been part of the ‘toga cartel’, a corruption network that operated within the high court, and in which he, along with former magistrates of that corporation, favored individuals and politicians who had legal proceedings in exchange for sums of money.
The former prosecutor is responsible for the crimes of concussion and improper use of privileged information.
