Grupo Nutresa increased its sales by 18.4% in the first quarter of 2020

Through the Financial Superintendence of Colombia, Grupo Nutresa presented its results for the first quarter with an increase of 18.4%, which served to enter 2.7 trillion pesos.

“Excluding the acquisitions of Atlantic Food Service in Colombia and Cameron’s Coffee in the United States, the Group’s organic sales growth was 13%,” the company said in a press release.

Only in Colombia the value of income was 1.6 trillion pesos, which means an increase of 15.5%.

International sales reached $ 291.4 million, which implied an increase of 9% compared to the same quarter of the previous year. In Colombian pesos this money meant a trillion pesos.

“The consolidated gross profit for the period was 1.1 trillion, and grew 14.1% over that of the same period in 2019. The above was the combined result of a positive dynamics in sales, as well as a higher cost of imported raw materials and those indexed to the dollar ”, confirmed the company.

About the coronavirus

Grupo Nutresa created a committee to deal with the management of the pandemic with an action framework on four pillars:

1. Health and well-being: The company argues that all employees have special care: “extraordinary hygiene, disinfection and prevention measures in places where their physical presence is required. Likewise, we promote education and communication to our teams to manage the risks and changes derived from these circumstances. ”

2. Supply: the company assured that it works “to guarantee continuity in the value chain which involves the adequate flow of raw materials, and the timely production and delivery of our products through the different channels available”. In addition, it has innovated in distribution alternatives.

3. Resources: Grupo Nutresa assures that it is concentrating on responsibly managing resources “to provide business continuity”.

4. Contribute: Donations have done like this:

– Resources for Intensive Care Units in Colombia and diagnostic equipment in Chile

– Donation of 220,000 food packages for 710,000 people in 18 cities in the country.

– Donation of 15,000 boxes of food for older adults in Chile and 9,000 in Mexico. In Central America, “20,000 food kits are planned for vulnerable people.”
