The way in which the Covid-19 behaves in the country in the coming days will be crucial for President Iván Duque to decide whether to take another step towards the economic reopening or, on the contrary, “tighten” the measures to contain the spread of the virus. For now, compulsory isolation is maintained throughout the national territory until April 11.

However, so far, everything indicates that the Government’s option will be to advance in the gradual reopening of the economy, with the lifting of restrictions in municipalities where there is no Covid-19 the next step.

This was confirmed by the same president during this weekend, indicating that in the coming days he will be working with his technical team to analyze the behavior of the territories where there is no presence of the virus.

“Hand in hand with the authorities, we can take gradual steps, which is not in total economic freedom, because we do not want an exponential expansion of the virus,” said Duque.

The president added that these steps will be measured, prudent and, above all, with a clear focus on obeying the guidelines of the health experts, particularly those related to biosafety protocols.

For this purpose, the president has been talking to some governors, to whom he reiterated that both grandparents and young people must be kept under protection in their homes until next May 30.

“We have also been working with the governors to identify what these additional steps may be, but keeping the clear principles: we cannot risk that those over 70 are out of their homes or that young people are out of their homes. during the duration of the Health Emergency, because we understand that our responsibility is to take away that rapid spread, “said the president.

Since April 27, the head of state made the decision to make the country’s isolation more flexible since March 25 at 0:00. Since then, the practice of outdoor sports is allowed for people over 18 years of age, and the industry and manufacturing sectors have returned to work under security protocols.
