Government of Germany supports Colombia in the fight against Covid-19

The Government of Colombia, through the vice president, Marta Lucía Ramírez; Foreign Minister Claudia Blum and Health Minister Fernando Ruíz thanked the German Ambassador, Peter Ptassek, and the Director of the German Cooperation Agency (GIZ) Stepan Uncovsky, for joining the fight against Covid -19 in the country.

The donations consist of 80,000 tests for coronavirus, and the sending of a team of professionals from the GIZ Epidemic Preparedness Team (SEEG) who will train laboratory personnel from the Departmental Institute of Health Norte de Santander in taking samples of the virus and perform an exchange of experiences with the National Institute of Health (INS) in Bogotá on the response to the pandemic.

Likewise, the Minister of Foreign Affairs highlighted the donation by the German Government of important equipment for maternal and child care, including monitors, incubators, and infant resuscitators, destined for the Erasmo Meoz University Hospital in Cúcuta.

Minister Blum assured that “its destination to the Erasmo Meoz University Hospital in Cúcuta is essential for the health system in the Venezuelan border area. In particular for Norte de Santander, a department where health entities have provided more than 800,000 services to Venezuelans since 2017 ”.
