The Ministry of Finance explained the reasons why congressmen and public employees received a salary adjustment of 5.12% for this 2020, As a result of the controversy that raised the increase in the midst of the economic crisis due to the coronavirus and the wait for the decree that will define the increase in the monthly minimum wage for the country’s workers next year.

Among the reasons for this portfolio are that the increase was already defined long before the pandemic and its application is in the last semester of each year. He also indicated that the increase was much lower than that established for this year’s minimum wage, which was 6%, while that of public employees and congressmen was 5.12%.

“This increase is less than the one agreed at the end of 2019 with which the minimum wage for this year was set, taking into account that it was 6%, while that of parliamentarians and public officials was 5.12%” he explained.

Likewise, it pointed out that this increase should be done before the end of the year, complying with the provisions of the Law and the Political Constitution. “The Comptroller General of the Republic certified the weighted average of the changes that occurred in the remuneration of the servants of the national central administration, for the respective fiscal period, “he said.
