Government confirms day without VAT and advance of the Christmas bonus in November | Economy

In order to anticipate Christmas shopping and prevent crowds, President Iván Duque confirmed that this November 21 will be held on the third day without VAT in the country. He also announced that the end-of-year premium in the central national government will be advanced for the last fortnight of the current month.

“They are means to get up early for Christmas and at the same time give a boost to the Colombian economy and the generation of employment by supporting micro, medium and large companies,” he said.

Thus, the third day without VAT will be Saturday, November 21 and will have the characteristics of the previous days, so clothing, toys, school supplies, household appliances, agricultural inputs, computers and computer equipment will be exempt from the tax.

However, the Head of State warned that from what was learned in the past days and so that there are no crowds, this November 21 the face-to-face sale of appliances will not be carried out in person and will be advanced virtually.

“We have also seen that for some families to get up early for Christmas they need us to advance some of the payments and that is why we will be issuing a presidential circular before the end of this week so that between November 15 and 30 we can advance the payment of the premium in the public sector of the central government ”, announced Duque.

And he added that apart from November 21, where they are the day without VAT, the idea is to aim for that income for ‘Black Friday’, which runs from November 27 to 30. “The benefit of the advance of the premium benefits 1.2 million people and we are talking about 1.4 trillion pesos that are going to enter the pockets of Colombian families,” he added.

Finally, the president stressed the message of buying local products, “that this advance of Christmas allows us to buy Colombian, because we are thus supporting the company in our country and stimulating employment,” he said.
