Susana Correa, current general director of Social Prosperity and who was appointed as manager of the archipelago reconstruction process of San Andrés, Providencia and Santa Catalina, indicated that the roadmap that the Government drew up to restore the island will be in two phases.
“The first ten days are to clear the way, to distribute humanitarian aid and then the 100 days will come,” Correa warned in some media. At the same time, in these first days the plan is to reestablish communication, energy and drinking water.
Thus, the first phase includes the removal of debris to make it easier for humanitarian aid to enter, as well as the delivery of food and tents –two per family–, especially in Providencia, where 95 percent of the homes were left without roof and destroyed.

“We go in order. Today we are providing aid in kind, food, tents and we are fixing public services. We are going to give priority to supermarkets, stores and hardware stores because today there is nothing open. We want people to be able to have resources if there is where to buy, ”he said.
During these three days, in addition, hundreds of citizens have been helped to move to San Andrés, specifically those who have somewhere to go, but the official emphasized that there will not be an evacuation of the island of Providencia.
Eight satellite phones were also activated so that citizens can communicate with their families and report their condition.

Regarding public services, Correa warned that a water treatment and desalination plant will be installed next week to supply the population with water.
“We don’t want to evacuate the island. In Providencia and Santa Catalina there are already shelters, we are putting public services. We want the men and women who may be helping to rebuild the island to stay because we need labor, ”he said.
In this way it gave a piece of tranquility for the victims. “We want the population to be calm, to know that we are there and that we will be with the Public Force all the time and articulate with all entities,” he said.

After these 10 days the second phase begins, which will be a 100-day plan where the reconstruction will begin. The official assured that the inhabitants who have houses that were damaged, but are habitable, will be given tiles and other aid elements, while those who lost their homes when they were totally destroyed will be given new ones that would be prefabricated, antiseismic and resistant in case of a new hurricane.
As he said, the first two houses will arrive this Saturday that are part of a pilot plan.
“We hope you like them. They are very beautiful houses (…). We hope that these prefabricated houses will replace the wooden houses that some islanders had, ”he said.

The Minister of Housing, Jonathan Malagón, will be in charge of this management.
Regarding financing, the official asserted that There is still no defined budget and it is not known how much the reconstruction of the infrastructure could cost. However, he warned that the Ministry of Finance is waiting for the conclusions of the damage verification to deliver the money that will be needed in this process.
With Correa’s management, it is also expected that the aid that unions, companies and citizens want to give can be channeled.
At the international level, the country has already received aid from the United States, which donated 100,000 dollars for the victims, and China announced a cash donation of 500,000 dollars from its government and 100,000 dollars through the Red Cross of that country.

For his part, President Iván Duque warned that he will supervise the reconstruction plan. “I am going to be, not only advancing in the morning and in the afternoon a supervision of how the issues are progressing, but I will be coming frequently enough to guarantee that Plan 100 is having the best and most successful execution possible ”, he assured.
Likewise, the president affirmed that hotel services, commercial flights and the tourist offer in general on the island of San Andrés are being provided in a normal way.
“It is very important to make it clear that hotel and tourist services and commercial transportation services to San Andrés are active and must remain active, obviously with the monitoring that is done with all the rigor by the Institute of Hydrology, Meteorology and Environmental Studies (Ideam) and of the Civil Aeronautics ”, assured Duque.
