Carlos Penagos, a personal friend of Frank Lebrón, told El País that the death of the member of the iconic salsa orchestra occurred due to kidney failure.

“Since December of last year Frank had kidney problems, in fact, he could not work with his brothers at the Cali Fair because he was in intensive care for this problem,” he said.

Penagos also commented that it all began this Sunday, when the youngest of the Lebrón brothers, 64, was admitted to a care center, his condition became so complicated until he finally died of coronary, kidney and diabetes complications.

“Frank had been fighting his diseases for a long time, especially his kidney disease. He had been on dialysis for several years. In the end, he left due to a collapse of several organs,” he said.
