Four dead after truck accident on the Ciénaga – Barranquilla road

An accident occurred in the Troncal del Caribe, on the morning of this Tuesday, October 13, after four Venezuelan migrants lost their lives while riding in the back of a truck, which overturned when it was heading towards the city of Barranquilla.

The incident was registered at 5:45 in the morning, between kilometers 14 and 15 of the aforementioned national road, in the vicinity of Caño Clarín, jurisdiction of the municipality of Palermo, Sitionuevo, after the driver of the truck identified with the registration number RDE-517 lost control of it and left the road, apparently after stepping too far on the road , the cargo vehicle falling laterally.

According to the information provided by the Traffic and Transportation Section of the Santa Marta Metropolitan Police, both the driver and his assistant, identified respectively as Walter López Castro and Edwin Enrique Malariaga Carmona, suffered some blows, but were generally unharmed.

Different luck had the migrants, of whom only the complete identity of one of them, Ediomar José Alvarado Navas, while the other three victims were known to be called Alejandra, Gustavo and Alexandra.

Likewise, it was known that the now deceased They asked the vehicle that was carrying cardboard and recycled paper as cargo, as they passed through kilometer 47 of the Troncal del Caribe, claiming that they were sick and had to reach the capital of the Atlantic, so they were picked up by López Castro, climbing in the back.

According to Colonel Óscar Solarte Castillo, commander of the Santa Marta Metropolitan Police, mobility is restricted to a single lane, while technical inspection is being carried out and lifting of corpses.
