Former prosecutors did not think that the FARC assassinated Álvaro Gómez

The former official of the Prosecutor’s Office commented to Noticias Caracol that the hypotheses that created around the murder of the conservative leader they did not target “the criminal organization” and, therefore, it was never investigated; nor did they receive clues or complaints about it.

Luis Camilo Osorio, also a former prosecutor, added to the media that they received information about the case from the Bucaramanga prison, but this never related to the group that signed a peace agreement in 2016.

The news program also obtained the version of the former member of the Prosecutor’s Office Guillermo Mendoza Diago, who in 1995 had just joined the entity’s team; the man confirmed what his colleagues said.

Ramiro Bejarano, former director of Das, told the media that he did not receive any type of information that linked the FARC with the death of Álvaro Gómez, for what he said that they should provide strong evidence to justify their statement.

Taking into account that the Farc took refuge in the JEP, the family of the murdered politician requested through Enrique Gómez, his lawyer, let the Prosecutor go ahead with the case or, taking into account that it is a crime against humanity, take it to the Supreme Court.

The statements of the former prosecutors came a day after the organization accepted its responsibility in the assassination of Gómez Hurtado.
