This Tuesday, former senator from Cartagena, Juan José García Romero, died of covid-19 at the Porto Azul Clinic, in the city of Barranquilla.
This was reported by his son, Senator Andrés Felipe García Zuccardi, who in a statement explained that his father, who was a congressman for twenty years uninterruptedly (between 1978 and 1998), “had been hospitalized for days on a preventive basis” .
However, on November 29 “there was a need to assist him through a respirator and the doctors did everything in their power to help him recover.”
Indeed, in recent days it was known that García Romero had been admitted to a hospital after testing positive for a PCR test on Thursday, November 19.
García Romero was the husband of former congresswoman Piedad Zuccardi. According to his son, Senator García Zuccardi, after taking the test it came back negative, but “several members” of his family would have been infected.
