The first date of the South American tie, as has happened in all Colombian soccer matches to date, was played without an audience to prevent the spread of covid-19.
However, this Friday images of fans in the Roberto Meléndez stadium box were leaked on social networks, before the match between Colombia and Venezuela.

The humorist Juanda Caribe He uploaded a video to his Instagram story in which he showed his entrance to the box, with an invitation card from one of the sponsors of the Selection.
The Mayor’s Office of Barranquilla had requested permission for at least 5,000 spectators to enter Colombia’s first game in the tie, but the request was not accepted.
Given what happened, the Colombian Football Federation issued a statement in which it assures that no rule was violated and that all those who entered the stadium were covered by biosafety protocols.
“The protocol established for international matches and the regulations of the National Government for this type of event were fully complied with,” says the communication. “The Colombian Football Federation used less than half of the quotas established in the protocol for international matches. Each attendee who entered the Roberto Meléndez Metropolitan Stadium in the city of Barranquilla was previously registered, according to the guidelines ”.
The FCF assured that each sponsor of the entity had the right to a quota and explained the case of Juanda Caribe: “In a very specific case, one of the sponsors chose to deliver the assigned quota for its manager to a recognized digital influencer, who, like the other attendees, complied with the biosecurity parameters in terms of prior registration and health guidelines.”

Last Wednesday, the Secretary of the Government of Barranquilla, Clemente Fajardo, had assured that the entrance to the stadium would be very restricted.
“The stadium as such will only be able to enter the players, the technical staff, the doctors and assistants of each team; Also members of the logistics that Conmebol has arranged to enforce the biosafety protocols, the referees, some television personnel that will be broadcasting the meeting and members of the Red Cross. That is what has been proposed and that is how it is being fulfilled so far, ”added Fajardo. He did not mention sponsors.
