From then on, Flor Silvestre’s career began to grow exponentially. She was the host and singer of a radio program, received her first proposals to make films and recorded her first albums.
The czar of Mexican cinema, Gregorio Walerstein, hired her to be part of five of his films, the first being “Primero soy Mexicano” (1950). In that same year the singer recorded her first albums at Columbia Records in Mexico, with whom she celebrated her first successes.
His discography encompasses more than 30 albums that compile a large number of Mexican and Latin American genres. The record label he worked with the most was Discos Musart, responsible for songs such as “Cielo Rojo”, “Renunciación” and “Mi casita de paja”, among others that marked his career. However, his last albums were released under Sony Music Mexico.
Among the actress’s best-known films are “El bolero de Raquel” (1957), next to Mario Moreno, better known as Cantinflas; “La cucaracha” (1959), together with María Félix; “Two crazy people on stage” (1960) and “Three girls from Jalisco” (1964).
Matriarch of a dynasty
On a personal level, Flor Silvestre had three marriages: her first husband was Andrés Nieto, with whom she had her first daughter, the dancer Dalia Inés Nieto, at age 18. Her second husband was the bullfighting announcer and chronicler Francisco Rubiales, better known as Paco Malgesto, with whom she had two more children: Francisco and Marcela Rubiales. After a divorce, the actress married the prolific singer, actor, producer, screenwriter and filmmaker Antonio Aguilar, who would confess that he was “the love of her life” and with whom she would work in some film productions.
Their romance began in the recordings of the movie “The rebellion of the sierra”, in 1957. They were married by civilians in 1959. A year later the singer and actor Antonio Aguilar was born and eight years later the popular Pepe Aguilar was born.
The talent of Antonio Aguilar and Flor Silvestre was inherited by their children and grandchildren, who have continued with the dynasty, since most of them have followed in the footsteps of these great figures and have made their own space. Ángela Aguilar (daughter of Pepe Aguilar) is an example of this, because at the age of 17 she has already managed to position her music among the youngest exponents of the ranch genre.
