Dozens of neighborhoods Cartagena and townships are in emergency this Saturday after the heavy rains caused by the passage of tropical storm Iota.
The Office of Attention and Risk Management through its Situation Room, which monitors the rains in the city, reported flooding in sectors such as Villa Rosa, Olaya Herrera (Zarabanda), Pasacaballos (Mother Herlinda), the Olaya neighborhood and its Central sectors, Colombia, Concepción, Miramar, Tequendama and Socorro streets, as well as Bayunca (Reino de Pambelé sector), Policarpa and Bernardo Jaramillo.
In the traditional Blas de Lezo neighborhood, citizen Orlando De Ávila Pertuz shared a video that shows the waters overflowing from the surrounding streams. “Every November we remember the relevance of the Storm Drainage Master Plan. 10 years have passed since its formulation and we are still waiting. It’s frustrating, but sometimes, Cartagena seems like a hopeless case, ”he wrote, while showing a vehicle being dragged through the rough waters.
Others shared images of the Big Mouth, one of the most visited every weekend.
