The testimony of Gabriel Alejandro Vega Novoa, a neighbor of Calle 80 with Carrera 69 K, has just become the main evidence of the Prosecutor’s Office to ensure that the young Ana María Castro died on March 5, 2020, after being thrown from A vehicle.

In the middle of the hearing to accuse Julián Ortegón Mosquera, the Prosecutor’s Office revealed the testimony of Vega Novoa, who that day had just arrived at his residence from providing a platform transportation service.

The witness called 123 and said: “At 30 meters I observe a dark vehicle, with tinted windows, which throws a female person and falls like a doll.”

In October of last year, Vega Novoa was contacted by the Prosecutor’s Office and expanded his testimony, assuring that after the body was thrown from the car, the car began to zigzag.

As EL TIEMPO has pointed out, Paul Naranjo was driving the Kia Sportage truck, with plates FSP 598, which belongs to his sister. In the car was Julián Ortegón, who did not accept charges.

'I did not kill Ana María Castro, I am innocent'

Paul Naranjo Calvo told EL TIEMPO that he is innocent and that when he said goodbye to Ana María Castro, she was fine.

‘Julián is not responsible’

Rafel Antonio Gómez Verdugo, defender of Julián Valente Ortegón Mosquera, opposed the assurance measure requested by the Prosecutor’s Office and the defense of the family.

According to him, there is no probative material that leads to infer the authorship or co-authorship of that death by his client.

After qualifying the case as media, he said that at the trial stage he will dispute all the testimonies and interviews. In addition, he drew attention to the fact that Mateo, one of the protagonists of the case, is conditional on his testimonies.

For him it is impossible that Julián, who was co-pilot in the car; and Paul, who was driving, could have thrown Ana María Castro (who was in the back) while the car was moving.

‘They kept the cell phone’

The prosecutor in the case pointed out that the Police verified that the vehicle did not show a fault or there was no trace of an accident.

It was also established that the witness has no connection with any of those involved and insisted that in testimonies and chats there is evidence that it was a crime due to her condition as a woman (feminicide) and that she was in inferior conditions.

“She was not helped, they left her to her own devices and she was in a state of exasperation,” said the prosecutor.

And he assured that a guard from the Naranjo group says that they kept someone’s belongings: “He told him, he kept her cell phone.”

This meant that the family could not contact Ana María, who remained alive for three hours.

The Prosecutor’s Office claims to have evidence that, on the way, Ana María would have been thrown from the car and was left dying at the height of Calle 80 with Carrera 69 K. Hours later she was diagnosed with “brain death.

On Wednesday, at 6 in the morning, Judge Mónica Caputo Tello summoned the parties to define whether or not to order an assurance measure against Julián Ortegón Mosquera.
