Historical! Just the day that marks the fourth anniversary of the signing of the peace agreement, at the Teatro Colón in Bogotá, an event occurs that marks a fundamental point in democracy; for the first time a congressman from the Farc Party presides over a plenary session in Congress.

The first senator of the community to hold that position is Griselda Lobo Silva, also known like Sandra Ramírez, who at this time presides over the session of the Senate of the Republic, which is holding a debate on political control over the murder of social leaders.

The Farc senator, who is the second vice president of the Senate, presides over the session because the opposition made use of the right that is granted in the Statute of the Opposition to establish the agenda of one of the plenary sessions each semester. In addition to this, the board of directors of the corporation reached an agreement to allow it to preside over this debate.

Ramírez was a member of the exploratory commission that gave way to the phase of formal dialogues between the government of Juan Manuel Santos and the defunct FARC-EP guerrilla.

The senator is part of the National Political Council of the Farc Party and in the Senate she is in the Alternative Opposition Caucus (Convergence for peace, life and democracy), It is part of the Sixth Constitutional Commission (of transportation and communications) and of the Senate Human Rights Commission.

Sandra Ramírez was elected as senator with 52,532 votes and will go down in history as the first time that a demobilized from the Farc reaches a directive position in Congress, thanks to the support of the opposition.
