Everton achieved a resounding victory in the Premier League, after beating Chelsea 1-0 on Saturday, in a match of the 12th day, and thus took a leap in the position table, in addition to preventing the ‘blues’ from reaching the championship tip.
After 22 minutes of penalty, Icelandic Gylfi Sigurdsson scored the commitment goal, after a previous play in which Edouard Mendy went wrong and dropped Dominic Calvert Lewin.
From that moment on, the team led by Carlo Ancelotti showed a lot of order and sacrifice to maintain the advantage and to try to extend it. Chelsea attacked and Jordan Pickford responded.
Everton felt comfortable and also reached the arc of the ‘blues’. There was even another penalty, which was celebrated by the Everton fans, who returned little by little to Goodison Park; but later, the VAR detected a previous misplaced and the decision was annulled.
With the victory, Everton adds 20 points and is seventh. While Chelsea is third with 22 points, two behind Tottenham and Liverpool, the first two.
