This Saturday the defining phases of Colombian football began. In the first key of the quarterfinals, Equidad received Deportivo Cali at the Metropolitano de Techo.
The teams so far were settling in when the first touchdown came. Barely a minute into the game, Angelo Rodríguez gained a rebound, played with Agustín Palavecino, who initially crossed at mid-range and Jhon Vásquez appeared to open the scoring.
Cali followed long and at 4 ‘, Vásquez was knocked down in the area by an alleged push. The play was analyzed in the VAR, but it was decided to continue.
Three minutes later, Neider Barona was injured off the pitch. Alexis García had to rethink his strategy and brought in Brayhan Torres.
Equidad reacted, as was to be expected, and appealed to the mid-range shots. Carlos Rodríguez released a powerful right hand that demanded a great deal from David González. The visit reacted with a high shot from Angelo that almost complicated Diego Novoa.
Cali would arrive again in great danger at 30 minutes. Palavecino took a corner kick short, the ball ended up delayed for Juan Camilo Angulo who did not hesitate to hit the goal, but the ball went just wide.
Precisely from quick transitions and effectiveness in collective play they managed to annul Equidad. Both Stalin Motta and Matías Mier were completely disappeared. On the other hand, Palavecino, Ángelo and Vásquez organized the sugar festival.
For the second part, the one who hit first was Cali. Deiber Caicedo received a deep pass and crossed into the area, but the ball crashed into Novoa’s right vertical.
Equity was not far behind. A dead ball was inside the visiting area, Mier defined as he could and González saved with just enough. The Uruguayan wanted to head in the second instance after a rebound, but was dropped by an alleged push. From the VAR they did not see any infraction and the game continued.
The locals were taking over the ball, while the visit was dedicated to waiting. Precisely at 61 ‘, a great counterattack commanded by Vásquez culminated in a shot from Palavecino that crashed into the crossbar. Equidad had it while Cali attacked.
The game gradually lost intensity. The sugar mills were fused from the physical, while the capitals did not find the loophole to approach the tie.
When it seemed that the luck of the local team was sentenced, the quiet ball saved the result. Mier made effective a corner kick that Castró took advantage of with an accurate header to sentence the final tie.
With the equality of one goal, everything will be defined on November 28 in Palmaseca.
