This Saturday, September 26, Envigado Fútbol Club returns to the South Sports Center to face Junior de Barranquilla in one of the most attractive matches of the tenth date in the 2020 Colombian League. The Barranquilleros have a good time in the Copa Libertadores and will seek to reflect it in the local contest when they visit the ‘quarry of heroes’ who want to continue on the path of victory after beating Patriotas by the minimum in Tunja.
Jorge Aguirre lives a very special moment, because he is part of the history of both institutions. As a ‘shark’ he was between 2014 and 2018 and now as ‘orange’ he will seek to be accurate in the inexorable ‘law of the ex’.
“Junior is a team with a lot of capacity and they will come out to propose, they have several facets in their game, they group well, they make good starts and start from behind with possession of the ball. We have studied various scenarios and we must apply our idea of the game, ”Aguirre said.
Regarding how special this game will be, Jorge indicated that “it is nice to leave a mark on a team, in life and from the personal side. I spoke with Sebastián (Viera) and we talked about how that game was going to be, I took the opportunity to remember pleasant moments that I lived in Junior. The knowledge I have of them, the proposal they have and the mentality of that team is important to put it in our favor. I have great affection for Envigado and Junior ”.
At 33 years old, the forward is one of the team’s veterans and with his years in football he wants to help guide the youngest. “I am one of the most experienced in the team, but we have a young squad with a large number of games. Not only for this game, but during my stay I have tried to share those lessons that I have had during my career and show them the example on a day-to-day basis ”, he specified.
Personally, this attacker takes advantage of every moment after the months of paralysis due to the pandemic. “I enjoy every game, now that we are back in the competition I make the most of the time. I am fortunate to be in this club, to share with my teammates, the coaching staff and I feel motivated for what is to come “, he said.
Finally, he spoke about the suspension absence of Michael Nike Gómez and if he is willing to replace him as a center forward. “I have no problem playing in any attacking position. A shame the expulsion of (Michael) Nike, because he brings us a lot to the game. But many times I have played as ‘9’ and I am always willing to contribute to the coaching staff ”.
