Jefersson Martinez came a year ago to Millionaires, from Envigado, to fight the Venezuelan position Wuilker Faríñez. Now, the goalkeeper is part of the Athletic Bucaramanga. But his departure from the blue team now has a complicated chapter from the legal point of view.
When Martínez was loaned to Millonarios, he established a “mandatory purchase option” for $ 550,000, once the player’s loan ended. Even Millos made the first payment of that agreement, for 150 thousand dollars.

The second payment, of 400 thousand dollars, would be made when the definitive transfer of the player was completed. However, Martinez resigned to Millonarios and the business fell. The goalkeeper even published a letter announcing his decision.
Envigado alleges that this resignation was made with a deception, Well, according to them, the Blues were going to offer him a new contract that was not finally given, a version corroborated by the player.
Millionaires, for their part, argues that the player voluntarily resigned and that with that, the mandatory purchase option was no longer valid and he did not have to pay the balance of $ 400,000.
For this reason, Envigado decided to sue Millonarios before Dimayor, claiming the payment of the balance plus the interest that had accrued since June 30, when the agreement expired. And it also requests that Millos cannot register players until he complies with the agreement.

In his defense, Millonarios argues that Martínez is no longer part of the squad and that today he works with another team, with which the object of the agreement no longer exists. But Envigado presented as proof a video of the Millonarios shareholders meeting, in which President Enrique Camacho reports on the purchase of the goalkeeper’s sports rights.
In the minutes of the assembly it says the following: “Sports rights show a significant increase mainly due to the acquisition of the sports rights of the players Jader Valencia, Hansel Zapata and Jefferson Martínez, among others.” Today, none of the three are in the club: Valencia went to Europe, Zapata returned to Equidad and Martínez went to Bucaramanga.

The issue, which is on Dimayor today, could have two additional instances if it is not resolved: the commission of the statute of the player of the Colombian Soccer Federation and, eventually, the Arbitration Court of Sport (TAS).
