A political control debate in the Second Committee of the Senate will question the alleged participation of National Government officials in the US presidential campaign.
The session was proposed by the opposition senator for the Polo Iván Cepeda, who summoned the chancellor. Claudia Blum, to report if there is Colombian interference in the campaign in which Donald Trump and Joe Biden compete.
“I have summoned a political control debate to examine whether officials of the National Government have been promoting intervention in the electoral campaign for the election of the president of the United States. There is media information that indicates that diplomats have been working to support the candidacy of today’s President Donald Trump, ”Cepeda said.
Specifically, what Cepeda hopes to investigate is whether the Colombian ambassador to the United States, Francisco Santos, has participated in the last three months in meetings with representatives, members or activists of the Trump campaign.
Additionally, if it is true that President Iván Duque had or plans to travel to the United States, particularly to the state of Florida, before November 3.
