The official who proposed to the International Criminal Court, who is also his close friend, was cracked in all aspects
Lawyer Andrés Barreto Gonzaléz, personal friend of Iván Duque and current Superintendent of Industry and Commerce, was nominated by the National Government to be a member of the International Criminal Court. The results couldn’t be worse. According to the Evaluation Committee, Barreto cracked the test obtaining the second worst grade among the applicants.
The Committee stated that the Superintendent is unfamiliar with international criminal law, humanitarian law and criminal procedure, his strengths being administrative and jurisdictional issues with research on the Colombian economy. They also pointed out that Barreto’s work experience and responses during the interviews had nothing to do with the Criminal Court and, therefore, would contribute little to it.
