Duque signs health authorization to speed up the arrival of vaccines

President Iván Duque Márquez announced on Monday that, in conjunction with the Ministry of Health, he signed the decree that allows accelerating the process of arrival in the country of vaccines against Covid-19.

“We signed the decree from which we have all the speed protocols, for what is known as Emergency Approval, so that medicines arrive in a supervised manner, temporarily, so that the vaccines can arrive in the country, accelerated, according to the schedule that has been defined by the Ministry ”, he said.

During the television special ‘Prevention and Action’, which was broadcast from Cartagena, the head of state stressed that the norm not only establishes “clear procedures for the Invima (National Institute of Food and Drug Surveillance of Colombia)” but is also a an additional step, after signing “the purchase contracts for 40 million doses of vaccines.”

The president specified in this sense that “This Decree not only establishes clear procedures for Invima, rather, it allows us to take an additional step, after signing the purchase contracts for 40 million doses of vaccines, so that we have the process according to schedule ”.

And he added that with the decree the pharmaceutical companies will be able to have the approval of Invima “expeditiously”.
