The authorities have already taken measures to prevent an increase in infections after Easter. This Tuesday, Colombia reached 37,080 active cases of coronavirus, continuing with an increasing trend that has been registered in recent days.

Due to this panorama, the National Government announced that on the weekends of Friday March 26 to Monday March 29 and from March 31 to April 5 these restrictions will apply:

Peak and cedula in municipalities with an ICU occupancy greater than 70%.
Night curfew from 10:00 pm to 5:00 am in municipalities with an ICU occupancy greater than 70%.
Night curfew from 12:00 am to 5: 0 am in municipalities where ICUs are above 50%.

President Iván Duque assured that these measures are of preventive character. “This is the moment when we must take care of ourselves the most. We already have a reactivation of tourism, let’s do it responsibly without crowds and with a mask if we already have the tourist package purchased,” said the president.

Regarding these new measures, the Minister of Health, Fernando Ruiz, reported that the decision was made after a meeting was held with the expert advisory committee. The objective of these restrictions, Ruiz explained, is to control a possible peak in the coming days.

Government Recommendations:

1. At Easter, avoid visiting relatives who live in another city.

2. If you already plan to travel to visit a relative, it is better to stay in a hotel and not at the home of your loved one.

3. Avoid private parties. “These meetings were a key factor in the December infections,” the minister explained.

4. Taking off the mask in places without ventilation implies a risk of contagion.

5. You can go to places of worship and churches, but no processions can be made.

6. Physical distancing is key to avoid contagion.

“It is important to be clear that you cannot authorize events of a public nature that involve crowds. You cannot allow the opening of discos or dance venues either,” said Interior Minister Daniel Palacios.
