President Iván Duque granted this Friday an interview to the international television of Germany, DW Español, in which he responded again about the complaints of possible support from Colombia to the presidential campaign in the United States.

Duque was told that the former president Juan Manuel Santos had stated that “spokesmen for the current government are calling the Trump campaign to see how they can help.”

In his response, the president began by highlighting that his government has always been respectful of the democratic processes that are being carried out in the world, that they are legitimate and that they are clear.

He said that with the United States there has been a bipartisan and bicameral relationship, “it was not necessary for us to try to influence a free pronouncement of the citizens of the United States, that has never been our criteria.”

He said that although he does not usually respond to statements of a personal nature “Well, I would leave it there, but always remembering a beautiful phrase that my father taught me: whoever makes them imagines them”
