, the driver of a car ran over two thieves who were trying to flee on a motorcycle after trying to steal a woman’s purse.
The 36-year-old man recounted how, when he saw that something was wrong, he reacted to help the victim of the robbers.
“A couple comes walking, the man tries to help the girl and the criminal rushes at him threatening him with a knife, as he hands him the bag. At that moment is where I react and move my vehicle, I overtake and at the start I crash the criminal ”, the man described.
In the attempt to escape, the motorcycle was under the car.
The police together with the community chased the two thieves, one was captured and the other managed to flee.
“Two people who were mobilizing on a motorcycle tried to flee after trying to seize the bag of a woman who was in front of the girls’ school. After this these people fall. As soon as the police in the quadrant find out about the situation, they chase them and manage to capture one of them, ”reported Colonel Luis Quintero, commander of the Villavicencio Police, about what happened.
At that moment, the uniformed men were shocked. “This person turned out, when requesting a background, with a measure of home detention,” said the officer.
The risky driver recalled the words of the governor of Meta, who urged the community to confront crime.
“One does not assimilate the risks, the consequences, but my reaction was to try to save a life, since these subjects rushed towards the young lady and the gentleman who tried to help her with a fairly large knife,” said the driver.
“We are going to communicate with him and give him all the collaboration. Thank God and fortunately he is fine, the lady is fine, even the criminal is fine, but we are going to give that person (driver) all the support he needs, ”Governor Juan Guillermo Zuluaga said in this regard.
The driver is now a key witness of this fact and the captured subject is accused of the crime of attempted theft. The motorcycle was immobilized.
