A driver in apparent state of intoxication caused a serious accident on the afternoon of January 1 in Bello, Antioquia, when he ran over two people who were mobilizing on a motorcycle.
The two people are seriously injured in intensive care units (ICU) of the North Clinic, according to the authorities. One of them, 28 years old and of Venezuelan nationality, is in critical condition, and he was the one on the back of the motorcycle.
The events occurred around 4:40 in the afternoon, on Carrera 52 with Calle 51, three blocks from the park of this municipality, located in the north of the Aburrá valley.

At a crossroads, a Mazda 6 vehicle with three occupants apparently runs a red light and runs over a motorcyclist and his occupant, who were not wearing a helmet.
After the collision, the 23-year-old driver fled, so a group of motorcyclists who witnessed the accident began the persecution, which the authorities also joined.
In an effort to flee, the man crashed two more vehicles in the Fabricato sector, as confirmed by the traffic authorities.
“Once the police are alerted, the closures begin in the sectors and at the height of Castilla (northwest of the city), the police units manage to intercept it. The municipal traffic units of Bello are presented to this place, and they are handed over the person, who was taken to a health facility for the breathalyzer test, “said Colonel José Galindo, citizen security operative commander of the Metropolitan Police.

Rigoberto De Jesús Arroyave Acevedo, Secretary of Mobility for Bello, told EL TIEMPO that although the man was handed over to the authorities this Friday, after taking the breathalyzer test, he was released because there are no complaints against him.

“What we know is that those affected, who were the driver and the barbecue of the motorcycle, have not filed any complaint, so those who were in the private vehicle are free,” he said.
On the other hand, stated that so far the results of the breathalyzer test are not known, which will be sent from the North Clinic to the Servipruebas laboratory.
“There are two tests, one of blood, which is the one that gives us the degree of breathalyzer, if the person had it; and the one of urine, to see if they had consumed psychoactive or hallucinogenic substances,” explained the official in dialogue with EL TIEMPO.
Although the test was carried out since this Friday, it had not been processed because the contract with the Mayor’s Office had expired on December 31 and will start again on January 4, as confirmed by Arroyave. Until now, the lab will make an exception and process the test, so se hopes that the results will be known in the afternoon or evening of this Saturday.
