An accident at the top of Patios also highlighted the need to comply with traffic regulations for everyone.
Faced with the new normal, thousands of people have returned to exercising in different parts of Bogotá. Whether on the bike path, on the Monserrate trail or in the parks, Bogota citizens have returned to physical activity. They have also done it at the top of Patios, a traditional mecca for cyclists in the capital.
But this Sunday, in the middle of the operation, it was shown that in this period road responsibility seems to have been forgotten. A person who made the ascent caused a spectacular accident at the top of Patios, for not knowing how to descend.
The video was recorded from a car descending in the La Calera – Bogotá direction. There is a long line of cyclists ascending, but in the ascent lane a cyclist was descending precipitously. Apparently he was doing it to outrun vehicles seen slowly descending the road.
Suddenly, the descending cyclist collides with two others who are ascending. The video was posted on social media to show the risk of not complying with the rules.
I understand and respect the cyclist 🚴♂️as one more road actor, of course, but and who explains to them about their OBLIGATIONS, RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES on the road? Who?? It happened on the La Calera- Bogotá road pic.twitter.com/Lfhky6rbvG

According to the National Traffic Code, those who circulate by bicycle must do so within 1.5 meters of the right lane in the direction of traffic. This cyclist, thus, was in the opposite direction and breaching several rules. Where the accident at the top of Patios would have been with a larger vehicle, the incident could have been much worse.
