Don’t wait any longer: these SITP routes will stop working between December 2020 and February 2021 in Bogotá

The Ministry of Mobility confirmed that during December five routes that operate in the Integrated Public Transport System SITP in Bogotá and others of the provisional service of Transmilenio will be suspended, the services will be re-established until February 2021. Along with the measure, Vehicle checkpoints will be increased to reduce the accident rate during the Christmas season.

The District’s call is for citizens to start looking for alternative routes that can be used within the Transmilenio application, which can be downloaded on any cell phone, or on the website of the city’s public transport company.

New road safety plan:

The Ministry of Mobility also announced a new road safety plan for the December season in Bogotá. Within this strategy, different pedagogical actions will be included that will be complemented by 3,000 operatives and uniforms on the roads with the highest accident rates in the Capital. Along with this there will be more operations to prevent informal merchants from invading public space.

In addition, they confirmed the accompaniment of the district on the day of the night cycle path to have control that citizens not only comply with biosecurity measures to avoid contagion of Covid-19 but also that there is no high traffic on the roads.

The mobility measures will also include 50 cranes, control of drivers to ensure that they do not travel in a state of clogging, control of transport trucks or that carry debris and greater presence of the District and the Police in the points where, during this time, they usually build up crowds. These areas include about 14 main corridors, 15 shopping centers, four crowded areas, including San Victorino, Outlet Las Américas, Monserrate, Parkway, San Andresito, and six more sectors of the measure of ‘Bogotá to Open Sky. ‘in which the Zone G, Parque de la 93 and the Plaza de la Perseverancia stand out.
