Director of the National Police positive for covid -19 – Services – Justice

The director of the National Police, General Óscar Atehortúa Duque, confirmed through his Twitter account that he is a carrier of covid-19.

“Today I have been diagnosed positive for covid-19. I fully comply with the doctors’ recommendations from isolation, but without leaving my vocation of service with my Institution and with the country. Thanks for all the messages of encouragement. #DiosYPatria, “he wrote on his official account.

Sources consulted by EL TIEMPO indicated that the officer can “qualify as asymptomatic“and that last week all the generals of the different forces were subjected to the test, prior to the summit they held on Saturday with President Iván Duque.

“It transpired that four generals tested positive for COVID, and that is why President Duque this morning they did a prevention test, “said a source.

The generals’ summit was held in person, keeping all biosafety protocols, said the source, who said it was a meeting in which public order issues were evaluated.

The officer is at home and from there, through virtuality, follows the activities of the institution.

“The epidemiological fence was started with the personnel around him, in his office and his security scheme; initially they were sent to their homes while they were being tested, we hope that no later than tomorrow, “said the source.

General Atehortúa would be without attending the Directorate for two weeks and in mandatory isolation.

Meanwhile, today the deputy director of the Police, General Gustavo Moreno, who was with President Duque on the security council, traveled to Popayán.
