Other Internet users have shared some of the artist’s most remembered songs, such as ‘Loving you more I couldn’t’, ‘The luck is cast’, ‘The queen’ and ‘Without measuring distances’.

But one of the most moving tributes to the ‘Cacique’ came from the singer-songwriter Rafael Santos Díaz, one of the 28 children recognized by Diomedes.

“Dad, here I am. I am to honor you until the last days that God gives me. 7 years ago, without your physical presence, but you are in our hearts. There you will have your flowers while I exist, dad “The artist wrote in an Instagram post showing Diomedes’ tomb, located in the Ecce Homo Gardens, in Valledupar.

Rafael Santos (41 years old) also spoke with the portal ‘Pulzo’ and recalled some anecdotes and moments he lived with his father. Among them, a rather curious one was a secret that few knew: Diomedes almost did not like to bathe.

He bathed in a French lotion that he liked very much and his clothes were released
(…) but that lasted like this for one or two days, on the third day because of course he would stick his bath
“Santos told ‘Pulzo’.

He also recalled for the aforementioned medium when his father was diagnosed with Guillain Barré, in 1998.

That syndrome, which, according to the Mayo Clinic, causes the immune system to attack the nerves, made Diomedes ask his son to dedicate himself 100% to music to help support his family.

The request included taking care of the deceased Martín Elías, another of the ‘Cacique’s sons,’ Santos told ‘Pulzo’.

Diomedes Díaz is one of the most important exponents of vallenato in history. During his career, went on to sell 20 million albums, more than any other artist of that genre.
