América de Cali will be left with two good goalkeepers for their commitments in the Colombian League and Copa Libertadores next year. Former Equidad goalkeeper Diego Novoa will have to pass the physical tests and pass them, he will arrive as a free player and would sign for two years, to join the Venezuelan Joel Graterol.
Novoa spoke with FUTBOLRED about various issues and the day he should arrive in the capital of Valle del Cauca: “I am waiting for you to confirm the exact date of the trip. My representative notified me that there was a formal agreement and only the medical exams are missing ”.
Regarding whether it was time to leave Equidad, he explained: “Yes, I felt that I needed a new air, maybe I felt that I was in a good moment and that I could take on much bigger challenges and accept responsibilities and commitments with greater height than we were facing, basically that was the idea for which I left La Equidad, to experience what it was like to be in a historic, bigger team and God gave me the blessing of being in the biggest and the two-time champion of Colombia ”.
Regarding whether he has always liked America, he pointed out: “of course, yes, without a doubt it is the team that is sending the stop today in Colombia, it is motivating for me, I am happy to receive the notification from my representative that I am going to reach the biggest team, so that was the idea of leaving Equidad and happiness is enormous ”.
Likewise, he expressed his joy at arriving at a good time after achieving the 15th star in Bogotá: “America is going through the footballing, emotional moment, in every way, it has shown, winning the last two tournaments in Colombia It is not easy, and it shows. The subject of the fans, America has been local in all the cities where it goes, I experienced it when I was in Equidad and we played a game against America in El Campín and practically the entire stadium was red, so the fans speak of their greatness and of its history, why not dream of that Copa Libertadores for that beautiful moment that is happening ”.
He also analyzed the game of Juan Cruz Real: “America is a team with many variations, the key to this champion America was his youth, the average age is quite low, and that helped the ‘teacher’ have been able to develop all his potential in terms of speed, imbalance and Adrián’s experience, it is a team with a mix of everything that is needed in football and that was shown throughout the tournament ”.

Novoa spent 22 years in Equidad, he arrived when he was 9, completing the entire process in the capital team. There he was led by Santiago Escobar, Néstor Otero, Arturo Boyacá, Humberto Sierra, Luis Fernando Suárez and Alexis García, who promoted him to the first division and now sees him leave the club. He made his debut in 2009 in a match against Cúcuta, which ended 1-1 at Techo, coming out as one of the highlights of the match.
