The National Tax and Customs Directorate (Dian) launched the enrollment service in the Single Tax Registry (RUT) completely online. This allows natural persons to do this procedure in a short time and formalize it immediately, without the need for an agenda or appointment with the entity.
He new virtual service allows individuals to obtain the RUT for the first time with an online guided process without personalized assistance.

The process can be done from any internet browser or mobile device; however, it is necessary to have clear and sharp photographs of the original of the identity document on both sides, and a selfie-type photograph to carry out the registration.
The document is valid indefinitely and can be updated when necessary.
For legal and natural persons that require commercial registration, this new service, for now, will allow issuing the document with the legend for ‘Procedure in Chamber’, and then continue with the process before the chambers of commerce, where they obtain in a single procedure the RUT and the certificate with the commercial registration.

For these cases, the Dian it is working in a coordinated manner with the chambers of commerce; The objective is to simplify and facilitate this procedure through the Single Business Window (VUE).
The RUT constitutes the chart of navigation that the entity has to classify the people and entities that, having the quality of taxpayers or not, are subject to obligations administered by the Dian. It is also the route for taxpayers to exercise their economic activities in a formal way.
