Despite the dry law, there were 54 sanctioned in the Valley on the first day of the weekend

On the first day of the Mother’s Day weekend, 32 people in Valle del Cauca were sanctioned for violating the dry law and failing to comply with the mandatory preventive isolation measure, authorities reported in recent hours. In addition, 22 arrests were made for other crimes that affect the community throughout the region.

“During this first day, 32 appearances were imposed on people who failed to comply with sanitary measures and 22 captures were also registered for different crimes. It is important to highlight that these actions, led by Governor Clara Luz Roldán, seek to protect the life of all Valle del Caucanos”, said the department’s security secretary, Walter Camilo Murcia, this Saturday.

According to the official, in the 42 municipalities in the region there are more than 2,500 police officers performing verification and review tasks regarding compliance with the confinement measures, the dry law and the curfew that governs 20 towns.

The dry law decreed for Valle del Cauca will be in force until 6:00 a.m. on Monday, May 11, and in accordance with the provisions of the Police Code, the penalties range from a fine of close to a million pesos to penalties of four years in prison.
