The governor of the Atlantic, Elsa Noguera, noted Thursday that the delay with the designs of the restoration project of the Fine Arts building It is unacceptable” and that more than 6 months ago they secured resources in the order of $ 12 billion to finance the works.

The president indicated that the reason why they have not been able to advance It is due to the delay on the part of the firm that was hired for design development.

“I join the legitimate cry of the students to be able to advance in this work so important for everyone ”, said Noguera.

For his part, the rector of the Universidad del Atlántico, Jose Henao, called on the students to be calm, since the money assigned is insured and the reason for the delay is because they had to make some changes to the proposal that they had to send to the Ministry of Culture.

“We with preventing them from returning (the documents) to us, We did two work tables with a very kind person from the Ministry of Culture to review before registering the documents and found some quite strong observations ”, said Henao, who also pointed out that they gave the designer in charge a reasonable time to make corrections; however, it did not meet the deadline given.

He indicated that project progress is 80% and that they had to act that way because they must comply with the demands of the Ministry.

He explained that they continue at work tables and that they expect that in -approximately- 45 days can have the technical studies approved, special permits and anything that has to do with the Ministry of Culture, which for him would be a “great advance”.

He stressed that Fine Arts has the eye of the Nation and as a regulated object, they must follow the Government’s guidelines.

“We are one step away – as never before – from having that great transformation of this heritage of the city, the department and the country ”, said the rector, while indicating that the Universidad del Atlántico must maintain the good name they have.

At the close of this edition a meeting of the university directors was held with students to socialize the progress of the work tables and keep the student community informed.
