The economist, Roberto Junguito died this Sunday in the city of Bogotá at the age of 77, after suffering health problems.
The first to react was the president, Iván Duque, who stated on his social networks that he regretted the death of the former minister and whom he described as an exemplary human being.
“I deeply regret the death of former Minister Roberto Junguito. A great friend, an exemplary human being, an upright public servant, a mentor that I will always remember and one of the best economists in the history of Colombia. My solidarity with his family ”, commented the Head of State.
Also former president Álvaro Uribe Vélez lamented the death of the economist and said on his twitter account: “I feel deep sorrow for the departure of former minister Roberto Junguito, an exemplary patriot and citizen, an excellent economist who served the Nation well in times of crisis and acute difficulties. Our solidarity with his wife Norha, her children and the whole family. “
Among other positions that Roberto Junguito had held in both the public and private sectors, the most notable are having held the Ministry of Finance during the government of former President Álvaro Uribe Vélez, co-director of the Banco de la República, representative of Colombia in the International Monetary Fund and he had also served as president of Fasecolda.
