The last message that Daniela Patiño sent to her family members was at 11:40 p.m. on December 25, 2020. In the message, she was heard singing while she was in a meeting with friends, which her ex-partner also attended.

Three days after Daniela’s disappearance, on December 28 there was an accident on the southern highway. A car collided with a truck. However, this did not appear to be a road incident, as the authorities believed that it was an action caused by the driver.
The driver, who suffered minor injuries, was the ex-partner of Daniela Patiño.
Following this incident, the 30-year-old man told authorities that he murdered Daniela and subsequently threw the lifeless body into the Medellín River.

The man would have been taken to this place while his arrest warrant was issued and thus avoid a possible escape. But there, in events that the authorities have not detailed, he would have killed himself with a knife.
Since the family lost contact with Daniela, they began to look for her, but when they found out about the man’s accident on the southern highway, the despair began.
“We have had access to a camera from here in the neighborhood, outside the Mico bridge, which showed us that he arrived at the bridge at around 3:20 in the morning. At the beginning of the bridge he stopped, I don’t know if with the intention of leaving her there. I think so”, told the local channel Telemedellín Alejandra Pérez, the victim’s cousin.
And after the information known to the authorities, in which the man confessed to the murder, the family began to demand the search for the body in the river.
But in the absence of results, on Wednesday, December 30, they decided to block the Mico bridge, the same place where Daniela was thrown, to demand that the authorities intensify the search for your loved one.

“Please, all the people who can come to help us, please, I beg you. We are desperate. We need to find her. Please, we need justice to give us an answer, they have not heard from her for many days,” said Alejandra Pérez in a video shared on social networks.
One day after this blockade, which paralyzed mobility in the north of Medellín, this December 31 at noon, 7 days after the murder, the lifeless body of the young woman was found.

According to the Secretary of Security, the search was complete because “On 26-27 the weather season did not accompany us in good shape, the river was swollen and that has made it difficult to locate the body.”
It is not clear to Daniela’s relatives what happened, nor the circumstances in which the perpetrator died, so they ask for justice.
“Daniela was a cheerful, outgoing, happy person and, above all, very familiar. We, as a family, want that to return. No woman deserves to be disappeared and to be done what they did to her ”, so they will always remember the young woman.
